Formal Safety assessment

Formal safety assessment (FSA) and alternative design assessment focuses on the use of modern techniques to enable risk informed decision making to solve practical problems being faced by stakeholders in the Maritime industry.

The philosophy is based broadly upon the FSA guidelines and the Guidelines for approval of alternatives and equivalents as published by IMO. We do recognize that that each problem would be unique and has to be approached holistically. In addition, IRS has published its own guidelines for approval of alternative & risk-based design to encourage innovation especially in items falling under classification purview.
