IMO GHG Reduction Strategy and way ahead

In a historic Paris agreement on climate change held between 30th Nov - 12th Dec 2015, 195 nations set path with an aim to keep the global temperature rise in this century below 2 degrees Celsius and to drive efforts to limit temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

The initial IMO Strategy on reduction of GHG emissions from ships was adopted at MEPC 72 in April 2018 and it represents the first global climate framework for shipping and includes quantitative targets.
